Age, weight loss or continual weight fluctuation, and heredity can cause a man’s backside to lack the ideal definition and shape for their body. Fat transfer to the buttocks is a solution offered by board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Joseph Cruise. It is a procedure that entails removing fat from one or more area of the body and placing it into the buttocks. This is often referred to as a Brazilian butt lift. Fat transfer to the buttocks adds volume, lifts, and improves shape. Dr. Cruise prefers this method over silicone butt implants because fat transfer has fewer risks, less recovery time, and no significant incisions.
When liposuction is performed on the body (i.e. abdomen or flanks), it is recommended to consider whether or not to re-purpose the fat by placing it into the buttocks. Plastic surgeons often refer to extracted fat as “liquid gold,” and look for the opportunity to use it whenever possible versus throwing it away. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. The amount of fat transferred will vary from patient to patient according to the desired result. For men who don’t necessarily feel they need buttock enhancement, Dr. Cruise may encourage placing a conservative amount as sort of a “reserve” for later in life when fat tends to melt away due to age. For men with noticeably flat or disproportionate backsides, Dr. Cruise will recommend placing a larger amount of volume to provide a marked improvement.
Keep in mind that combining more than one procedure into one surgery offers the benefit of just one recovery.
