Travel for Gynecomastia Surgery

As you can imagine, when you travel for gynecomastia surgery in Southern California with Dr. Cruise, there are many attractions, things to do, and sights to see. Although the primary focus of your trip is to have surgery with Dr. Cruise, should you or anyone traveling with you want to get out and enjoy Newport Beach, Los Angeles, or other popular areas, we have provided some recommendations below.

This list is organized into three main categories depending on where you are during the healing process.

Sedentary

It is best to rest and keep activity to a minimum the first couple of days of your recovery following travel for gynecomastia surgery. The amount of time Dr. Cruise would like his gynecomastia patients to rest is dictated by how extensive the procedure and if any other surgeries are performed at the same time. The type of anesthesia also plays a roll. It takes a little longer to recover after general anesthesia than it does local anesthesia.

If you would like something other than hotel food, we recommend ordering from one of the on demand food delivery companies such as Postmates and Door Dash.

When you travel for gynecomastia surgery, you may bring a friend or family member with you. During the first couple of days or so following your male breast reduction surgery, he/she may want to get out and see the sites while you rest, here are some popular things to do in Newport Beach, Los Angeles, and San Diego areas. Of course, once you are feeling up to it, you may want to visit some of these spots as well (make sure you don’t include the amusement parks on your list!). After all, travel for gynecomastia surgery doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some of the best things SoCal has to offer.

Fashion Island – Outdoor shopping area with great retail stores and restaurants. Located right next to our office.

Corona Del Mar Beach – Popular local beach and great spot to watch the sunset.

Balboa Island – Take a stroll around this quaint little island. Local shops and restaurants.

Crystal Cove Beach – Drive 10 minutes from our office to Crystal Cove beach. High cliffs with expansive views of Catalina Island in the distance. The Beachcomber Cafe, located directly on the sand, is a popular spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

South Coast Plaza – One of the biggest shopping attractions in California. Visitors from all across the world come to shop here. Stores range from mainstream to ultra-luxury.

Huntington Beach – Also known as “Surf City.” One of the most well known beaches in the world. Hang out at the beach, watch the surfers, visit Pacific City outdoor shops and restaurants.

Disneyland – The happiest place on earth!

LegoLand – Amusement park made out of legos

Universal Studios Hollywood – Take a drive up to Los Angeles to visit this popular theme park.

Hollywood – If you have the time, head over to Hollywood walk of fame, people watch, and hike to the Hollywood sign.

Santa Monica Pier – Another fun LA spot with rides and games. Located next to Third Street Promenade, a popular street full of shops and restaurants.

Able to Drive

Once you are up and moving around, and feel like getting out of your hotel room or other accommodations, a drive up or down the coast may be just what the doctor ordered!

If you head South on Pacific Coast Highway from Newport Beach, you can drive through the towns of Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente. After you reach San Clemente, you will begin a trek towards San Diego cities such as Oceanside, Carlsbad (LegoLand), Encinitas, La Jolla, etc.

If you head North on Pacific Coast Highway from Newport Beach, you will reach popular towns such as Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Long Beach, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Venice, Santa Monica, Malibu, Los Angeles, and Hollywood.

When you get hungry, locate an In-n-Out Burger. It is considered a Southern California landmark and some say it will be the best burger you ever have. www.in-n-out.com

Limited Walking

At this point in your recovery, you are getting around a little bit easier and may feel up to doing some walking around vs driving. You can refer to the list above for some ideas on popular attractions, things to do and places to see.
